Matthew 24 (New International Version)
Jesus predicts the destruction of the Temple
1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came to shew him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them: "Do you not see this? Truly I tell you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that will not be thrown down."
The signs of the times and the end of the Age
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"
4 Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, 'and will deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, because all [a] these things must happen, but the end is not here yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, [b] and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 "Then they will deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then many will be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then shall the end come.
The Great Tribulation
15 "Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation, '[c] spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 "then let those in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 which is on the housetop not come down to take something from home. 18 And he that is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19 But woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! 20 But pray ye that your flight be not in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
23 "Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is Christ,' or 'There! "I do not think so. 24 For false Christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you before.
26 "So if you say, 'Look, He is in the desert, go not forth, behold, he is in the secret chambers, believe it not. 27 For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man. 28 For wheresoever the carcass is, there the eagles will gather.
The coming of the Son of Man
29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
The Parable of the Fig Tree
32 "Now learn a parable of the fig tree: When his branch is yet tender, and puts forth leaves, ye know that summer is near. 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it [d] is near, at the gates ! 34 Verily I say unto you that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words shall not pass.
No one knows the day or hour
36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, [e], but only the Father. 37 But as the days of Noah, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For as in the days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42 Watch therefore, for ye know not what hour [f ] your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, watched, and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for the Son of Man is coming at an hou
1 Corinthians 15:51-58
(51) Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
(52) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
(53) For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
(54) So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
(55) O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
(56) The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
(57) But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
(58) Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
The individual is Jesus in his heavenly position as King of His Father's kingdom. He will not personally return to the earth. This is not necessary for Jesus to rule of this earth. It will all be done from heaven. Just like this government is run from Washington, with representatives though out the country, Jesus has and will have his reps here on earth under his command.
1 Thessalonians 4:14-18 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. Our days now are days of the trumpet judgment. Revelation 8 &9 the sixth trumpet judgment might be another world war if people will continue to harden their hearts and will not acknowledge the Lord as the God of this universe. God is going to cleanse this earth starting from Jerusalem to every parts of the world from idolatry and idolaters. Joel 2:1 Blow the trumpet in Zion and sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the day of the Lord is coming, for it is at hand. Joel 2:10-14 The earth quakes before them, the heavens tremble; the sun and moon grew dark, and the stars diminish their brightness. The Lord give voice before His army, for His camp is very great; for strong is the One who executes His word. For the day of the Lord is great and very terrible, who can endure it? Now therefore, says the Lord, Turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping and with mourning. So rend your heart, and not your garments; return to the Lord your God for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; and He relents from doing harm. who knows if He will turn, and relent, and have a blessing behind Him - a grain offering and a drink offering for the Lord your God? Blow the trumpet in Zion, consecrate a fast, call a sacred assembly; This is a call for Israel to prepare the whole world for the Second Coming of the Lord.
