Since the tsunami and 8.9 earthquake hit Japan a few days ago , people have been saying that it's supposed to be traveling to the west coast . I live in Seattle and were long overdue for a big one , is it true that the earthquake moves along this path with the earthquake , or is it just all hype caused by mass panic ? And if it is true no longer be here ? Also what would be the global consequences of the three power plants in Japan nucleur going through a crisis?
They had a wide continental shelf ? A narrow shelf ? That is close to an oceanic trench ? What you can expect the cost of having the largest number of earthquakes ? Explain . thanks
I live in Honolulu Island (the west coast of Canada ) and if some of you do not know , that the island is 100 % sediment . In the case of a tsunami , Vancouver Island would block most attacks , however , if an earthquake happened , my city actually break and sink ... But money is tight these days and you never know when the next earthquake will hit . How should I prepare my family , what should we do ?
Have you been watching the news? Prayers for everyone in Japan , these images look crazy news . Are you on the west coast ? Are you going to be effected by the tsunami waves ? BQ : Do you let your children watch the news about this kind of thing , or you try to protect it ?
I hear the possibilities , I live in Seattle ! How is that possible affected by flood , earthquake and tsunami ? Where is the safest place I can run around Seattle ?
This fascinates me . I remember seeing on the news that Colombo , Sri Lanka (located in the West Coast Island ) was hit by the Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004, that originated from near Indonesia in the Indian Ocean . I can understand why the eastern shore was completely devastated . I can understand why Somalia , thousands of miles and hours away , was also beaten . But why the west coast of Sri Lanka ?
I saw a sight quite frightening at Discover Channel that showed how landslides, usually from the sides of volcanoes near the coast , can cause enormous tsunamis ( much higher than undersea earthquakes ) . He said it can be hundreds of feet high ( as in Alaska ) . I wonder if an Atlantic tsunami could wash over the Florida East Coast to the West ?
I live in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. where eventually one of the largest earthquakes in the world is expected to happen . My house is two miles inland from the beach and I think the height is about 130 feet ( although I have to check that) . Hopefully likely be elevated high enough to escape instead of a massive tsunami ?
Oregon is in danger . It is expected that the huge tsunami triggered by an earthquake the sea off the west coast of the Pacific to destroy Oregon Washington http://www.circleforhumanity.net
I live on the east coast of New York and a friend of mine went to California and told me that the waves were so big and powerful that almost knocked her down . I also knew that on the east coast beaches and the continental shelf are longer than on the west coast so maybe the waves come over .
Which two plates meet along the west coast of the U.S. ?
Can you explain why the west coast of Canada has so many earthquakes ? All information welcome .. thx @
