QWhat are some cheap or free activities to do in San Diego?

Me, my husband and my 14 month old daughter will be visiting the San Diego area may 17-24. I wonder if there will be a special event in those days. Also, what economic activities or places that you can visit are family ?

This is a comprehensive list!

The Bahia Belle is an inexpensive boat ride that goes back and forth between Mission Bay from the Bahia Resort to its sister hotel in Pacific Beach. The last time I rode it was $10 a person. You can get off, explore, and then get back on.

You can also take the ferry from downtown San Diego to Coronado Island. It's a 15 minute boat road for $4 each way. It can be difficult to find a parking spot downtown.

Have fun in San Diego!

I'm thinking of activities suitable for children under 2:
The beach, La Jolla Shores is nice for digging in the sand whereas La Jolla Cove is nice for walking around (some green space here too).

Balboa Park: there's a puppet show in Marie Hitchcock building ($5 adult, free for under 2), and the gardens are pretty nice (most are free), museums are not free (except on select Tuesdays), the pepper grove playground is free (not particularly, astounding, but it is free and kids have fun)

Birch aquarium is nice and small, suitable for small children ($12 for adults, free for under 2)

Old Town is free and visually interesting because of the colors and knick knacks
