Bill is correct . There are many factors involved in creating a tsunami that is not his being only an earthquake . A major earthquake is not necessarily a large tsunami . There is a direct relationship in which we can say an earthquake on the scale of " X " will produce a tsunami with the height of the " Y" if a tsunami is generated yet.

1. Where was the epa center of the Quake? Latitude and Longitude
2. How deep was the quake?
3. What was the Vertical Displacement of the sea floor? (most important) If there was no vertical displacement, no Tsunami.

Not all undersea earthquakes will cause a Tsunami.

this is a homework task to imagine a tsunami, I doubt a factor will be whether or not there is actually a tsunami
