Fold mountains haven't necessarily changed the landscape of the planet; rather fold mountains are the result of the change that has occurred. Fold mountains are created through convergent boundaries, which are the sites of continental plates coming together. Since the plates are not dense enough to subduct (go under each other) they push on each other and this forces the land upward, resulting in a mountain.

Earthquakes, on the other hand, most definitely change Earth's landscape. Earthquakes occur when tectonic plates interact. Since the plates are so large, the result is a significant disturbance in the surrounding area. If an Earthquake is large enough, it can set off volcanoes, which will in turn change the landscape in their own way. http://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/2000/fs036-00/
