How about the center of the U.S.?
East and West have their problems , West Coast has two volcanoes and earthquakes , but the East Coast is next to a very large fault line that has not earthquake.
West is the slope and ONE BIG East has constant hurricane / nor ' easter / etc .
If you have additional funds , I would put my luck next seaview in Idaho !
in the west coast we have the Pacific ocean and on the east coast we have the Atlantic, however because the ocean is called pacific and most of the time calm it does not mean that nothing would happen, we have all the faults that create either earthquakes or even tsunamis, I would suggest the east coast is safer
There is a fault line that runs through the north eastern coast as well.
And the east gets some heavy hurricanes.
But for over all safety the East has got the advantage.
On the East Coast you have to worry about Hurricanes. Due to rising temperatures in the ocean the severity will be a rising problem.
However, the West coast lies on faults and therefore you have to worry about earthquakes, and if they happen outside the west coast in the ocean, you could have to worry about tidle waves.
Given the choice I'd say East coast is safer. Though not 100% safe.
Neither are safer. Geologists have been saying that an eruption on of the Canary Islands may cause a land slide of an entire side of the island, and weighs several million tonnes. This will cause a Tsunami which will head about 20 km inland. It will happen too quickly for an evacutaion to occur. the ewst coast also has a risk because of the Pacific plates and smaller ones in the area.
