QWhat actually damaged the Japanese Power Plants? The Earth quake or the Tsunami?

The media continues to blame the earthquake drum up fear of our own plants , but most of the damage caused by the tsunami ?

Electrical power was removed . Without electricity , the pumps that move the cooling water in the reactor has not been executed . So that the reactor has more and more hot hitherto been blasting plant and now can melt . I have not heard if the earthquake or the tsunami knocked out the power really eclectic.

Just to add to the second answer, there were 13 diesel generators for back-up power which also failed. I just watched a news clip which said the private company which runs the nuclear facility has a history of lying and falsifying documents. Although the earthquake and/or tsunami was likely the primary cause of the situation, I wouldn't be surprised if was a history of lapsed maintenance.
